Inspector Biography or Curriculum Vitae (CV) - Scott McMillin

Scott McMillin is the owner and primary inspector of InspectOC, having taken over from Scott Swickard,

the founder, in late 2022.  Scott McMillin has over 30 years of experience in the home maintenance and

home remodeling industries, which has afforded him extensive knowledge of building systems. He is an

ASHI Certified Inspector (the American Society of Home Inspectors), a graduate of The ASHI School,

a renowned property inspection school. Scott is also a CREIA Certified Inspector (CCI) with the California

Real Estate Inspection Association. CREIA and ASHI are the oldest and most respected property inspection

associations, and both require ongoing, continuing education in order to maintain certification. Formal education

includes a BFA from California State University, Fullerton.​

​“I have always believed in helping people. Providing my clients a thorough inspection helps them to understand

all aspects of a property they are considering for purchase”, says Scott.  A keen visual sense, the desire to know

the how and why of building systems and their failures, and a belief that customer service is essential, are a few

of the reasons for Scott McMillin’s ongoing success as a property Inspector.​

Scott recently served on the CREIA Orange County Chapter board as Treasurer, and is involved in helping other inspectors through his volunteer efforts.

The BVI or Background Verified Inspector® shield to the right means added safety and protection for our clients and agents. It means a criminal background check was completed through ASHI, and confirms an Active Membership in American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI), includes a Social Security Number Trace, a search of County Criminal Records, Nationwide Criminal Records and the DOJ Sex Offender Database.

​Scott McMillin was associated with InspectOC for almost ten years before agreeing to purchase the company and take over for semi-retiring owner Scott Swickard. As owner and lead inspector, McMillin will continue to provide top-quality inspection services for his clients throughout Orange County and surrounding areas.
